Think Regional! Southwest Ohio

Southwest Ohio Leadership -- Think Regional! is an outgrowth of the Southwest Ohio Leadership (SWOL) Regional Issues Day that was initiated in 2006 through the efforts of Leadership Clinton, Leadership Highland and Leadership Warren County. Our annual summits draw leaders from business, non-profit, community service volunteers, concerned citizens and elected officials from across the 15 counties of Southwest Ohio to collaborate on ways to better improve economic and job growth and the quality of life across our region. Think Regional believes that the 15-county Southwest Ohio Region will benefit from ongoing discussion, focused group discussions and action plans to achieve more collaboration in various arenas. These community leaders are committed to helping foster regional discussions, contributing both time and energy to the effort. Think Regional! is all about facilitating and accelerating the development of a thriving community in the 15 counties* making up South West Ohio, integrating the growth of Cincinnati and Dayton as commercial centers providing a high quality of diverse economic, social and educational opportunities.

Southwest Ohio Leadership -- Think Regional

Think Regional has a rather unique vision ... that economic and community development improvements can be enhanced and accelerated by counties and commercial development activists working together on a collaborative rather than competitive basis, ultimately providing increased benefits to communities across the region.

 Think Regional! is thus bringing together representatives from these counties, and from many business and commercial interests, to identify needs, issues and actions that can be taken to facilitate and accelerate beneficial development activities … taking into account the issues of energy and transportation infrastructure, skilled and educated workforce, quality of life issues including health care, small business and entrepreneurial support, inclusion of racial and ethnic minorities in businesses and communities, and cross-government reforms to better support development. Our focus includes agricultural as well as manufacturing and service industries … seeking an inclusive and integrated approach to “making the pie bigger”, faster, for the benefit of the region as a whole.

 Think Regional Mission – “Growth Through Collaboration”

The key purpose of Think Regional activities is to support existing development groups in attracting and retaining commercial development, in order to increase economic growth across the region, to increase growth in the number of hgher-paying, career-oriented jobs in the region, and to an improved the quality of life for all residents across the region.

  • In order to achieve this mission, Think Regional activities focus on the following:To advocate for and facilitate collaborative efforts to attract and strategically plan quality business development across the 15 counties in Southwest Ohio, including the metro areas of Cincinnati and Dayton and the “connecting” counties in between and along the I-71 and I-75 corridors;

  •  To identify and support leveraging of the attributes and resources that give Southwest Ohio a competitive advantage in the specific areas of supporting successful development and appealing resident lifestyles, versus other options for investment outside of Ohio;

  •   To encourage and support collaboration among existing public, private and community groups working to attract and plan economic development in the individual cities and counties in Southwest Ohio, to increase the appeal of the region to outside investment groups and companies and to local companies planning expansion investments.

*Southwest Ohio Leadership has community leadership programs in some of 15 counties of SW Ohio: Adams, Brown, Butler, Clark, Clermont, Clinton, Darke, Fayette, Greene, Hamilton, Highland, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Warren.
