1974. That’s when a group of churches and neighborhood activists realized an urgent need for a center and services to support the independence of older adults.

2019. Hyde Park Center for Older Adults is celebrating 45 years of enhancing the intellectual, physical, social and spiritual well-being of adults over 55. The needs of seniors are no less urgent today than they were 45 years ago. Transportation, home cooked meals, social time, wellness and learning all help older adults continue their independence.

We are in the heart of Hyde Park today thanks to our founders, members, and volunteers who’ve given their time, talent, and treasure to the Center. We are forever in their debt.

On November 1st, we will be recognizing the people and organizations who’ve helped us over the last 45 years at our Sapphire Gala at The Summit Hotel. Funds raised at the Gala will be used to provide programming for our members, guests and local residents.

The festivities will include cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, a live auction and a presentation by Dr. Richard Warm, Director of the Center for Wisdom and Leadership. Funds raised at the Gala will be used to provide vital services to program participants.

Terri Hogan is chairing the 45^th anniversary Sapphire Gala and Molly Prues is leading the Host and Hostess Committee.
